James Thornton
James Thornton

James Thornton has 30 years experience in UK commercial property. James spent the first 15 years of his career at Jones Lang Wootton, 11 of which were in its investment management division, JLW Fund Management. In 1996, James joined Savills, where he was appointed Director of Fund Management, responsible for a team of 10 managing some £950 million of client funds on an advisory and discretionary basis.
Clients included segregated UK pension fund mandates and Oxbridge Colleges. During his time at Savills, clients consistently outperformed their performance benchmarks. Over a 5 year period the margin of out performance was 200 basis points relative to the IPD Pension Funds Index.
James is one of the Fund Directors for the funds managed by Mayfair Capital, including the Property Income Trust for Charities fund which has £100m of assets under management.

Guy Brogden

Guy Brogden has been involved in commercial property investment transactional business for 30 years. As one of the country's leading property investment professionals, Guy's contacts include institutions, property companies, developers and private investors. Guy has been involved in a large number of high profile transactions, buying, selling, and providing advice to many of the largest property owners in the UK. Clients included Land Securities, Prudential, Insight Securities, Morley and Deutsche Asset Management.
Before setting up Mayfair Capital in 2002, Guy spent 12 years as Senior Equity Partner and Head of Investment at Oliver Liggins, a niche commercial property agency based in Central London. During 1992-1996, Guy was instrumental in setting up a £100m UK portfolio of commercial property for a wealthy Swiss based family and has extensive knowledge of portfolio structuring for private clients.
Prior to this, Guy was a Partner in the investment team at Jones Lang Wootton.
Guy is one of the Fund Directors at Mayfair Capital, a role which embraces the acquisition and disposal of properties. Guy is also responsible for bank funding, fund accounting and financial reporting.

Robert Palmer

Robert Palmer has over 25 years experience in commercial property having graduated from Durham University prior to studying for an MA at Cambridge University. He undertook his professional training at Debenham Tewson & Chinnocks, now DTZ and was elected a member of the RICS in 1989.
In January 1995 Robert joined PRICOA and was responsible for transactional activity and asset management of two separate UK focused accounts. He was closely involved with the creation of a number of successful fund launches including Industrial Partnership, Industrial Partnership II and The Industrial Trust.
Following his promotion to Director in January 1997, Robert was appointed Fund Director of the Hanover Property Unit Trust, the firm’s largest UK balanced mandate which grew to exceed £600m. He was part of the senior management team that concluded an MBO from PRICOA to form Rockspring where he was then Chairman of the Investment Committee. Robert left the Rockspring Partnership in March 2009 and remained a consultant until December 2009.
In June 2010 Robert joined Mayfair Capital as a Director. He is responsible for the recently launched Mayfair Capital Property Unit Trust, an open-ended Jersey Property Unit Trust with an initial committed equity in excess of £100m.

James Lloyd

James Lloyd was appointed Director of Marketing and Business Development in September 2009.
Following a Short Service Commission in HM Armed Forces, James worked for 12 years running a leading West End art gallery.
In 2004 applying his background of working with private clients in the art world, James joined a wealth management firm to grow the level of investment from private clients. In 2005 this led to the formation of St Vincent Capital Ltd. James was a founding Director and responsible for marketing and business development of this FSA regulated business which provided private clients access to 'bespoke' property investment opportunities.
James is responsible for all aspects of Mayfair Capital's marketing and business development, including investor relations with current clients, whilst developing further relationships with new investors in the charity, professional investor and institutional markets.

Edward ('Ned') Pumphrey
Edward ('Ned') Pumphrey

Edward ('Ned') Pumphrey, joined Mayfair Capital as the Head of Transactions in May 2010. Ned has over 24 years of commercial property experience. He spent 11 years with investment agency Weatherall Green & Smith (now part of BNP Paribas) and Nelson Bakewell (now NB Real Estate) advising major institutional property investors such as PRUPIM, Legal & General, AMP (now Henderson Global Investors), Argyll Property Asset Managers and ICI Pension Fund.
During the last 13 years Ned has been running the London office of the Deramore Property Group — a substantial and highly respected Belfast-based property company. As well as his knowledge of long-term investment across all property sectors, he brings to Mayfair Capital a wealth of experience in property asset management and development projects.
At Mayfair Capital, Ned chairs the firm’s Internal Investment Committee and act as the key interface with the property market across the UK for buying, selling and providing strategic stock selection for the Funds and advisory mandates managed by Mayfair Capital. He works closely with Catherine Candler, Mayfair Capital’s Director of Asset Management in extracting value from existing assets held.

Stephen Musgrave

Stephen Musgrave was appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Mayfair Capital Investment Management in March 2011.
Stephen has held a number of top level roles in the commercial property world during his illustrious career, most recently as Managing Director of Hines UK (2006 - 2010).
Prior to this he was Chief Executive of Grosvenor, UK & Ireland (1995 - 2006); Joint Managing Director of London Capital Holdings PLC (1987 - 1994); and Development Director of Stockley PLC (1984 - 1987).
Since the autumn of 2010 Stephen has been working with a number of companies and individuals including the MCC as their property and development adviser.

Catherine Candler

Catherine Candler joined the Mayfair Capital as a Fund Manager in June 2006 and has worked in commercial property for 11 years. Catherine joined from British Airports Authority (BAA) where she provided professional property advice to various businesses within the Plc. Catherine trained and qualified at King Sturge LLP, becoming an Associate in the City of London office Real Estate Consultancy Team, specialising in Landlord & Tenant advisory work.
At Mayfair Capital, Catherine is responsible for the implementation of the asset management initiatives of the Funds, and supports the investment activities of the Funds. Catherine was appointed Director of Asset Management in April 2008.

Sarah Bate

Sarah Bate joined Mayfair Capital, as Director of Research, in January 2011. Sarah’s role, includes economic and property market trend analysis, which is integral to the strategic approach of Mayfair’s investment strategy.
Sarah specialises in conducting top down economic research and property market monitoring and forecasting. She also has experience in identifying new investment ideas and mispriced property sub-sectors. After beginning her career at Jones Lang Wootton (now LaSalle) in the UK Research team, she spent a decade at Knight Frank LLP in a variety of research-orientated roles, including Head of Global Research and Partner, focussing on the Central London Office leasing, development and investment markets. More recently Sarah was Director of European Research at Rockspring PIM where she concentrated on investment strategy and product development.

David Oxland is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser who retired in April 2008 after 32 years as a Partner of the East Midlands-based accountancy firm Cooper Parry LLP. David works part-time and provides tax and accounting advice to the Board of Mayfair Capital.

James Feilden
James Feilden
James Feilden joined Mayfair Capital as an Assistant Fund Manager in February 2011 having spent four and half years with GVA within their London Markets team where he was elected a member of the RICS in 2008. Prior to GVA James graduated from Newcastle University before spending time in the City of London with a private client equity fund manager. James has a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and an MA in Property Valuation & Law from Cass Business School.
At Mayfair Capital, James is primarily responsible for assisting with the investment activities and asset management initiatives of the recently launched Mayfair Capital Property Unit trust (‘MCPUT’), an open-ended Jersey Property Unit Trust with an initial committed equity in excess of £100m. In addition James also supports the investment activities and asset management of the other Mayfair Capital Funds.

Simon Martindale

Simon Martindale joined Mayfair Capital in January 2012 as an Assistant Fund Manager to James Thornton having previously worked in the Valuations department at DTZ where his clients included SEGRO, Hammerson and Standard Life. Prior to DTZ Simon worked at Edward Symmons LLP where he was engaged in a variety of work including providing loan security valuation advice to numerous leading Banks as well as Landlord and Tenant and agency advice. Simon was elected a Member of the RICS in 2007 and prior to this completed his studies at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and London South Bank University.
