On the 11th January, the Charity and Endowment team had the pleasure of hosting an insightful property seminar in Cambridge in the Upper Hall at Peterhouse.

The seminar, attended by property investors and Cambridge College Bursars, included a short presentation on the UK property market, the challenges & opportunities in real estate investment and how to deliver resilient & sustainable portfolios.

The seminar included short presentations from Swiss Life Asset Managers UK on the topics below: 

  1. UK property market update How the real estate market has adjusted to persistent inflation, higher interest rates and a more subdued economy – are we seeing fair value across property sectors? What are the return prospects for 2024 and beyond?
  2. How property investment is changing - challenges and opportunities How structural changes in traditional property sectors - retail & offices - is changing the real estate investment landscape. While industrial still offers attractive rental growth prospects, alternative sectors, including residential offers strong investment returns and compelling diversification benefits, however success requires specialist knowledge and a more proactive management approach. Blending traditional and modern (operational) forms of property management in portfolio construction.
  3. Progressive property management - ensuring resilient and sustainable performanceIncreasing environmental regulation and ambitious net zero targets requires greater operational control, expertise and innovation in managing real estate portfolios.
